Can I book directly?

With an eligible covered claim, you can usually contact an ACC acupuncture provider directly. You do not normally need another GP referral just to start acupuncture. We still need to check that the treatment relates to the covered injury.

No claim yet? An eligible healthcare provider needs to assess and lodge the injury; an acupuncturist cannot lodge a new claim for you.

What will I pay?

ACC contributes to eligible treatment; it does not mean every visit is free. At ALLBODY HEALTH, the surcharge is $30 per visit, or $20 for the existing 60+ and Under 18 concession. Appointments are usually 45–60 minutes.

If ACC declines your claim or treatment funding, you will need to pay privately at the fee explained and agreed before treatment. A booking or claim number alone does not guarantee funding.

How many visits are covered?

The standard pathway is up to 12 treatments within 12 weeks of the first acupuncture treatment, usually starting within one year of the accident. Further funded care needs approval when the treatment or time limit is reached. These are funding limits, not a promise that you need or will receive 12 visits.

Tell us about earlier acupuncture for the same injury, including at other clinics. If the injury is older or the limits are close, we can check the next step before treatment.

What should I bring?

Bring your claim number, injury date and any previous treatment information. Be ready to describe what happened, where it hurts and what you want to get back to doing.

If needles worry you, say so. Nyx uses gentle, comfort-focused acupuncture, and you can ask to pause or stop. Recovery may also involve movement, rehabilitation or other medical care according to your needs.

When to get medical help first

Seek urgent medical care for major trauma, rapidly worsening weakness, difficulty passing urine, loss of bladder or bowel control, or numbness around the groin. Do not wait for an acupuncture booking; call 111 for emergency assistance.
