Before you leave home
Wear comfortable clothes that make it easy to access the area being assessed. You do not need a special diet, but avoid arriving after a long period without food.
Bring a medication list and any relevant reports you already have; you do not need to arrange new tests just for the appointment. Bring your claim number and injury details if you are using ACC.
What will Nyx ask?
Expect to talk about when the problem started, what makes it better or worse, sleep, daily activities and what matters most to you. Mention relevant health conditions, medicines, pregnancy or the possibility of pregnancy, and any previous treatment reactions.
You can also say what you are nervous about. That helps shape an appointment you can take part in comfortably.
Do I have to agree to treatment?
No. After assessment, Nyx explains the suitable options, expected sensations, relevant risks and costs. You can ask questions, choose not to proceed, or ask to pause or stop. Sometimes another healthcare assessment is the appropriate next step.
You do not need to commit to a fixed course before knowing how you respond. Follow-up should be based on your needs and progress.
How long does it take and what does it cost?
Private acupuncture is usually 45–60 minutes at $90, with the existing $80 age concession for 60+ and Under 18. ACC-funded acupuncture has a $30 surcharge, or $20 with that concession. See Pricing for the full current fees.
If ACC declines cover or treatment funding, the private fee agreed before treatment applies. If you only want to ask questions first, the free consultation lasts 15 minutes and does not include formal treatment.
Do not wait for a routine appointment
Sudden severe symptoms, major injury, chest pain, breathing difficulty or new significant weakness need medical assessment rather than a routine booking. For emergency help, call 111.
